Your Social Media Bio is One of the Most Important Parts of Your Presence

Yep, you heard me right. Your bio is SO important. And many social media platforms don't give you a whole lot of room to work with, so be sure to use it wisely.

So, what exactly should you include then? I've got a break down for you here.

LOCATION

Your location should be front and center, and easy to find. Followers and potential customers should not have to search to find out where you are location, wether you have a storefront or not. If you have a location, include the address. If you're service based, it's important to include something like "based in Southern NH". You can always include that you are willing to travel if that is the case, or important to your services.

WHAT YOU OFFER

A brief summary of your services is crucial. Again, don't make people search. For example, for a yoga studio in Newburyport you could give a brief overview "Yoga studio located in Downtown Newburyport offering memberships and drop in classes". Be sure to include key words in your summary so that people can search you.

CONTACT INFORMATION

Including your website or email link will make it easy for people to find out more about your business, and to contact you. Many people do not want to have to hop off the platform they're are using to find this information. Instant gratification now a days, right?

CALL TO ACTION

Including a call to action or offering invited followers and customers to interact with you. Something simple like "Join our email list to stay up to date." or "Now booking for Dec 2024!" will do. Don't overthink it, but always invite people in.

Many believe that adding personal touches to your bio is important. If you want to add, I would suggest having them under this important information in order of importance. I don't think personal touches in your bio like "dog mom" or "yogi" are necessary. Your content should give them a glimpse into your life, so keeping your bio information concise makes you searchable. After all, that's the most important thing, getting in front of potential customers, right?

Of course, this is a brief overview and differs for business types. However, following these general rules will ensure your profile is in tip top shape.
